Trend: Socks with Heels

This used to be the biggest faux pas you could commit: Socks with heels. Then Madonna came along and made it cool. And then the 80′s ended.

But like every good/horrible fashion trend, it’s back, spotted on several runways, and occasionally on the street.

Because this trend is in its infant stages, venturous fashionistas are treading lightly. Maybe it’s still too soon. But if you’re ready to take on the fashion big time, here’s how to do it right…

- Go neutral: Pair an ankle sock with the same color of shoe. We’re loving these sandals: The Coclico from Rainsong (2410 Magowan Drive, Santa Rosa or 117 Plaza Street in Healdsburg) for a neutral look.

- Go wild: Pair a bold color with something less intrusive, like a bright blue with a black pump. Or you can go bold, like Sarah Jessica Parker (the queen of fashion herself), who was spotted wearing knee high argyles with some hot peep-toe stilettos. We’re loving this look, recently spotted on Lindsay Lohan. Want to find some wild thigh-high stockings and socks: Disguise the Limit Costumes, 100 4th Street, Santa Rosa, (707) 575-1477.

But one look than anyone over 22 or saddled with cankles must promise to avoid: The “man heel” with socks. (*shudder*)

What do you think?

Wearing socks with heels, rockin' way to accessorize or total fashion fail?

My friend, Ty, calls me Frumpenstein when I wear my Keen’s with socks. It’s not sexy. But soo comfortable.

Wow, I sure looked great in this look back in the eighties. Guys liked the frilly bobby socks with high heels. Now, I think my teenagers would commit me and my husband would shake his head and roll his eyes. This is a look for teens and 20-somethings with great legs. I had my time!

not sure if this trend is boldly odd, or oddly bold.
